Features

Mantra enrollment

Add any mantra with its name, meaning, and a deity image of your choice. Each mantra gets its own dedicated space in your practice.

Daily target & lifetime goal

Set a daily chanting target (e.g. 108 repetitions) and a lifetime goal (e.g. 1,25,000 Gayatri chants). The app tracks your progress toward both.

Chanting session

Count each repetition with a tap. The app tracks your session in real time, vibrates at milestones, and saves your count automatically when you finish.

Session history

See a complete log of every session. Missed a day of manual counting? You can add past sessions manually so your history stays complete and accurate.

Statistics

Track streaks, total counts per mantra, progress toward lifetime goals, and daily averages. See how your practice builds over weeks and months.

Backup & restore

Export your entire practice history as a JSON file at any time. Restore from a backup if you change devices — your data is always yours.

Free trial & pricing

MantraCounter includes a 30-day free trial — full access to every feature, no payment required. After the trial, a single annual subscription unlocks continued access.

Subscriptions are managed through Google Play. Cancel any time. Your exported backup data is yours to keep regardless of subscription status.

Frequently asked questions

What is a mantra enrollment?

An enrollment is your personal record for a specific mantra — its name, a deity image, your daily target, and your lifetime goal. You can enroll as many mantras as you practice. Each mantra's history and statistics are tracked separately.

What is a lifetime goal?

Many traditions prescribe completing a mantra a specific number of times over a lifetime — for example, 1,25,000 Gayatri Mantra repetitions is a traditional purashcharana count. You can set your own lifetime goal for each mantra and watch your long-term progress.

Can I add sessions I did without the app?

Yes. If you chanted with a physical mala or simply forgot to open the app, you can manually add a past session with the date and count. It will be included in your history and statistics.

What does the backup file contain?

The JSON backup contains all your enrolled mantras, their targets and goals, and your complete session history. You can save it to Google Drive, email it to yourself, or store it anywhere you like. Restoring it on a new device fully recovers your practice history.

What happens to my data after the trial ends?

Your data is stored locally on your device and is always accessible. If your subscription lapses, you can still view your history and export a backup — you just won't be able to start new sessions until you renew. We never delete your data.

Does the app work offline?

Yes. All counting, history, and statistics work completely offline. An internet connection is only needed for the initial subscription purchase and annual renewal through Google Play.

What mantras can I track?

Any mantra you practice — Gayatri, Maha Mrityunjaya, Om Namah Shivaya, Hare Krishna, or any personal mantra given by your guru. The app is tradition-agnostic: if you can count it on a mala, you can track it here.

Can I cancel the subscription?

Yes, at any time through Google Play. Your access continues until the end of the paid period. Cancelling does not delete your data.

Is there an iOS version?

Not yet. MantraCounter is currently Android-only.
