This Privacy Policy explains how SereneRise — Brahma Muhurta Time & Widget ("the App") collects, uses, and protects your information. By using the App, you agree to the practices described below.

1. Introduction

SereneRise is developed by DailyBliss and is available on both Android and iOS. This policy covers what data the App uses, how it is stored, and your rights as a user. Where behaviour differs between platforms, this is noted clearly.

2. Information We Collect

Location Data

The App requests access to your device location to calculate accurate Brahma Muhurta and sunrise times for your area. How location is used differs by platform:

Android

• Foreground location ("While using the app") — used to calculate times when the app is open.
• Background location ("Allow all the time") — optional. When granted, the widget refreshes hourly and updates your location automatically when you travel more than 50km. This is designed for users who travel frequently between cities. Without this permission, the widget refreshes daily at midnight using your last saved location.
• Location is never transmitted to any external server regardless of which permission is granted.

iOS

• Foreground location ("While using the app") — used to calculate times when the app is open. This permission is optional on iOS — if you prefer not to grant it, you can enter your city manually and the app will calculate accurate times from that.
• Background location ("Always") is not requested on iOS.
• If location access is granted, the app checks when you open it — if you have moved more than 50 kilometres from your previously saved location, it updates automatically.
• The widget refreshes daily at midnight using your last saved location or manually entered city.

On both platforms:

• Location data is stored locally on your device only.
• Location is never transmitted to any external server.
• On iOS, location permission is entirely optional — the app works fully without it if you enter your city manually.

Device Information

• Basic technical data such as device type and operating system version may be collected to improve performance.
• Crash logs may be collected to identify and fix issues.

Subscription Data

• If you purchase a subscription, payment is processed by the platform's billing system — Google Play Billing on Android, or Apple In-App Purchases on iOS.
• The App itself does not access or store your payment details.
• Subscription status is verified locally via the respective platform billing library.

No Personal Data

The App does not collect your name, email, phone number, or any other personally identifiable information.

3. How We Use Information

• To calculate and display accurate Brahma Muhurta times for your location.
• To update the home screen widget — hourly on Android when background location is granted (for travellers), or daily at midnight on both Android (without background location) and iOS.
• To update location automatically when a 50km+ move is detected — on Android this happens in the background (when background location is granted), on iOS this happens when you next open the app.
• To verify subscription status through Google Play Billing (Android) or Apple In-App Purchases (iOS).
• To improve app stability and performance.

4. Data Storage

• All data including location, subscription status, and preferences is stored locally on your device only.
• No data is transmitted to or stored on any external server or cloud service.
• The App functions completely offline — no internet connection is required except for subscription purchase and verification.

5. Data Sharing

• We do not sell, trade, or rent user information.
• We do not share location data with any third party.
• Subscription and payment processing are handled securely by Google Play Billing (Android) or Apple In-App Purchases (iOS).

6. Background Location (Android only)

On Android, the App requests background location permission for users who travel frequently. When granted, the widget refreshes hourly and automatically updates your location when you move more than 50km — so the times stay accurate no matter where you are. This permission is optional. Without it, the widget refreshes daily at midnight using your last saved location, which is accurate for users who stay in one place. You can always open the app to update your location manually.

When background location is used, it is:

• Never transmitted to any server
• Never shared with any third party
• Only used for local sunrise time calculation
• Only accessed when a significant location change (50km+) is detected

On iOS, background location is not requested. Location permission is also fully optional — if you prefer not to grant it, you can enter your city manually and the app calculates accurate times from that. If location access is granted, the app checks on open whether you have moved more than 50km and updates automatically if so. The widget refreshes at midnight with the latest saved location or city.

7. Security

All data is stored locally on your device using the platform's secure storage — Android's SharedPreferences and iOS's UserDefaults and Keychain where appropriate. No sensitive data is transmitted over the internet.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted within the App, on the Play Store and App Store listings, and the effective date will be updated. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
