What is Brahma Muhurta?
In the Vedic tradition, Brahma Muhurta ("the hour of the Creator") is the auspicious pre-dawn window reserved for meditation, study, and spiritual practice. It begins approximately 1 hour and 36 minutes before sunrise and lasts about 48 minutes — the span of two muhurtas in the traditional Hindu division of the day.
This time is prized because the mind is naturally settled after a night of sleep, the environment is quiet, and, in traditional thought, sattva (the quality of clarity and balance) is at its peak.
How this tool calculates it
The calculator uses the standard NOAA solar-position algorithm to determine sunrise at your coordinates, then subtracts 96 minutes to find the start of the Brahma Muhurta window, and adds 48 minutes to find the end. All calculations happen in your browser — your coordinates are never sent anywhere.
